There is nothing like a good weather comparison to get the summer clothes out of the cupboard and for people living in Dorset, this weekend heralds the time when we are officially ‘warmer than *insert European holiday destination*’.
Even with the temperatures rising in the Spanish city of Barcelona, it is not going to rival Bournemouth tomorrow (March 25) which is set for temperatures around 17C. According to the met office, Bournemouth will see its warmest hours at midday and only very gradually getting cooler to around 12C at 9pm. In the town, the warm weather will also hold throughout the weekend, with Saturday reaching highs of 16C and Sunday 14C.
Across Dorset there looks to be a sunny weekend ahead and with the forecast now at short range, we have pulled together a list of 17 Dorset towns and their top temperatures for Friday and the weekend ahead.

On the far east of Dorset is the harbor town of Christchurch. Set to see long midday highs of 15C on Friday, it will stay this warm between 12pm and 3pm. There are highs of 15C again on Saturday around 12pm, and Sunday it cools slightly to 14C.
Also set to embrace a toasty 16C over Friday, Poole cools slightly earlier in the day than Bournemouth, peak temperatures are between 12pm and 2pm and then around 5pm it is down to 13C. On Saturday highs reach 16C again and on Mothering Sunday it is a high of 15C when out of the wind chill.
Set back from the harbor front, Wareham has a longer period of heat on Friday. 16C holds between 12pm and 4pm, with Saturday bringing in 15C for most of the afternoon. It is cooler on Sunday, down to 14C however that is around 4pm, with the morning a bit chillier, around 9C.
With a slight north easterly breeze, Swanage is set for a Friday with temperatures peaking at 14C in the afternoon and holding until around 4pm on Friday. Saturday is a similar picture with highs of 14C from 12pm-4pm. Things get chillier on Sunday, dropping to a short peak of 13C
Dorchester could well have that Friday feeling tomorrow as it matches Bournemouth’s 17C when out of the wind chill. From midday Friday to around 4pm the temperature is 16C and will feel like 17C in areas. Things don’t cool down too much until 6pm that evening and Saturday is looking equally glorious, 15C between 12pm and 4pm. Dorchester is showing a strong Sunday according to the Met Office, with highs of 15C.
Weymouth & Portland
Weymouth is set to highs of 15C out of the wind on Friday. The warmest part of the day is between 11am and 3pm and accounting for the wind chill which is always on Portland, the Isle will feel a couple of degrees cooler. Saturday looks promising in the area, with highs of 15C between 12pm and 4pm. Sunday cools to 14C which kicks in around midday after a chilly start.
Escaping the chill off the sea, Bridport is set for an enjoyable Friday. Highs of 17C hold between 12pm and 3pm, it is then a lovely sunny evening and cooling to 11C around 6pm. Saturday sees highs of 16C between 12pm and 4pm and then Sunday is still nice and warm in the area, around 15C as a high but maintaining that for most of the afternoon.
Cooler than the towns to it’s east, Lyme Regis has a high of 15C on Friday when out of the wind chill, it is also sunny for most of the day with no sign of cloud. Saturday reaches 15C mid-afternoon and Sunday cools down to 14C. There is only a light wind though so it’ll be a lovely day for a walk.
Beaminster is going to bake…in March terms at least. Friday is 17C around 2pm and around 16C from 11am beforehand. There is just a spot of cloud around 3pm but otherwise a glorious day. Saturday sees a high of 16C holding between 12pm and 4pm. Sunday is warmer than other areas in the county, getting up to 15C from midday to late afternoon when out of the wind.
Sturminster Newton is set for hours of warm weather on Friday, with 15C from 11am, the mercury creeps up to 17C at 1pm and holds until 3pm. Saturday is warm and sunny throughout the day with highs of 16C between 12pm and 4pm. Sunday gets up to 15C in late afternoon around 4pm.
Sherborne is set for two days of highs into 17C. Friday is hot and sunny in the daytime with the peak of 17C appearing between 1pm and 4pm, cloud then cools it down but the warm weather is back for Saturday where it is 17C again around 3pm. Sunday is warm but cloudy with highs of 16C.
Wimborne is also going to bask in the sunshine tomorrow. 17C hits the town between 1pm and 3pm and it does not drop below 14C until 6pm that evening. Saturday is sunshine throughout the day with not a cloud in the forecast and Sunday maintains a pleasant 15C as its peak temperature when out of the wind.
Blandford is in for a bright and sunny Friday with lunchtime starting the warmest weather, highs of 17C from 1pm-3pm and then a bit of cloud cools it down by a degree or two. A cloud-free Saturday and Sunday lead to highs of 16C on both days with the warmest temperatures in the early afternoon
Shaftesbury has a consistent but slightly cooler few days ahead. Highs of 15C are seen throughout Friday and Saturday. Friday has a long pleasant afternoon with 15C from 1pm-4pm. Saturday the temperatures are warmer late afternoon around 3pm. On Sunday, the town is set for a brief high of 14C around 4pm as cloud is cooling things down throughout the day.
17C for four hours on Friday afternoon should make for a pleasant end to the week. Gillingham is seeing 17C from 1pm on Friday until 4pm and bright and sunny throughout with a tiny burst of cloud in the afternoon. Saturday sees highs of 16C between 12pm and 4pm and Sunday reaches 15C in the late afternoon around 4pm.
In the far east of Dorset, Verwood is going to have a glorious Friday afternoon, with peaks of 17C between 1pm and 4pm. A little cloud in the afternoon cools things down towards 6pm. Saturday sees highs of 16C between 12pm and 3pm and Sunday holds at a reasonable high of 15C in the afternoon
