Bristol Rovers could receive windfall as Watford eye move for peterborough‘s Clarke-Harris

Bristol Rovers could receive a windfall this summer should peterborough United sell Jonson Clarke-Harris amid interest from the Championship.

Clarke-Harris is wanted by Watford after their relegation from the Premier League, according to Alan Nixonand should the Hornets strike a deal for the Jamaica international the Gas will receive a cut of the fee.

Rovers inserted a sell-on clause into the deal when they sold the striker to peterborough in 2020, believed to be 20 per cent. The Gas have already peterborough-bristol-rovers-6488366″ target=”_self” rel=”Follow” data-link-tracking=”InArticle|Link”>received around £2million from the deal, with an upfront fee of £1.25million.

Hundreds of thousands of pounds in add-ons have been triggered since after Clarke-Harris won the golden boot and fired peterborough to promotion from League One in 2020/21.

Clarke-Harris scored 12 goals in the Championship last season as Posh were relegated, but the 27-year-old could stay in the second tier with new Watford boss Rob Edwards eager to bolster his attacking options as Emmanuel Dennis is linked with a Premier League move.

And should the former Coventry City and Rotherham United forward, who has two years remaining on his deal at London Road, be sold the Gas will receive 20 per cent of any profits.
